Jesus Had Friends?

Jesus said to the disciples in John 15:15, “No longer do I call you servants…..but I call you friends.” Why would God in the flesh, a future risen savior, call some very flawed men his friends. He explains throughout the verse. He said that a servant does not know the plans of his master. In the previous verses, Jesus told the disciples of the plan of redemption to save humanity from sin and eternal damnation. He let them listen and understand the divine plan of the Father. A servant does not have the intimacy of his master. The disciples now did. Therefore, from that point, he referred to them as friends. He also commanded them to love one another. We too can become friends of God. We are given intimate details through his holy word, the bible. A sustained life of prayer and bible study will help us to develop our friendship with God. However, it is up to the individual of how close a relationship to have. Will you just be a servant or a friend?
